Eagle Springs Farm w/ Hipcamp Sites We arrived late in the evening at dusk and attempted to camp at the farm, but the field grass was over 1 foot high, so we were not able to put up our tent. Seven miles in, just before climbing the pass, take the unmarked trail 1.8 miles to Hidden Lake, and camp on its lonely shores ringed by spiky peaks. The fenced-in camp is darker than the surrounding grasslands. On a steep oak-dotted hillside high above the Sunol Valley, Sunol's backpack campground has some great scenic views, and although it's just a few minutes' drive from the suburban Bay Area, feels remarkably remote. Eagle Spring Backpack Camp is just below Mission Peak on the Ohlone Wilderness Trail.
